Sculpting Stories

Ceramics hold history. Each firing immortalizes fingerprints, touch, and movement. Glastellar chooses to mold their own history through throwing, hand-building, and slip casting clay. They use processes that are rhythmic and time consuming to create both functional and sculptural ceramics. Be it carving patterns, building a large piece bit by bit, or applying layer upon layer of glaze to create colorful surfaces, Glastellar finds peace and time for internal reflection through slowing down. Their functional work connects themselves with others through touch and shared moments: molding and forming stories and memories that are attached to each piece. Glastellar finds community through clay in Seattle, WA where they continue to work, live, and play.

  • Glastellar (they/them) received a B.F.A. From the Savannah College of Art and Design (Savannah, GA). Glastellar is an artist and curator who finds joy, love, and community through clay.
